RAJ GOVT MEETS A DELEGATION OF GUJJARS ON QUOTA

JAIPUR : Rajasthan government officials on Tuesday held a meeting with the delegation of Gujjar community on their demand for reservatio­n in state government jobs. “The government has assured (the delegation) about finding a solution on reservatio­n issues of the community. They have sought 15 days to provide reservatio­n benefits in government jobs…,” spokespers­on of Gurjar Aarakshan Sangharsh Samiti, Himmat Singh, said.

GUWAHATI: Assam’s only Muslim BJP MLA Aminul Haque Laskar says he received a letter threatenin­g him with dire consequenc­es unless he resigns from the party in 15 days, police said on Tuesday. Laskar, an MLA from Sonai in Cachar district, received the handwritte­n letter on Saturday, he said. Two bullets of a .32 pistol were taped to the missive, written in Bengali with red ink.

BHU asks retired professors, officers to vacate bungalows

VARANASI: The Banaras Hindu University administra­tion served notices to over 30 retired professors and six former officers to vacate the official bungalows that they were occupying on the university campus, an official said. Many newly joined professors had to live outside the campus as the official residences were occupied by the retired professors, the official said.

Plumber molests 8yearold girl at Chandigarh gym

Chandigarh A 26-year-old on-call life guard was arrested for allegedly molesting an eight-year-old trainee at Rajeev Enterprise­s Sports Academy in Sector 29 on Sunday night. The accused, Divesh alias Pinkal, a native of Gujarat, worked as a plumber at the gym-cumswimmin­g academy, and occasional­ly served as a life guard. Police said the girl, a Class 4 student, was training inside the pool when Divesh touched her inappropri­ately.
