MUMBAI: The Maharashtra government and Canada’s Quebec province have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for better economic cooperation in the sectors of information technology, biotech, artificial intelligence, aeronautics, energy and tribal welfare. On his eight-day foreign tour, chief minister Devendra Fadnavis signed the MOU along with Quebec premier Phileppe Couillard on Tuesday.
Moreover, Bombardier, a multinational aerospace and transportation company, has also promised to support the Metro and Monorail projects in Mumbai and other cities in the state. Fadnavis also hoped to attract Canadian pension fund investment in India with the help of Caisse de depot et placement du Quebec, one of Canada’s biggest public pension funds. After meeting CDPQ’S president and CEO Michael Sabia, the chief minister said the state has agreed to partner with some companies and is keen on working with retail partners.
