WARNER TO PLAY IN CARIBBEAN PREMIER LEAGUE

GROS ISLET, SAINT LUCIA: Australian batsman David Warner will play for the St Lucia Stars in the Caribbean Premier League as he continues his attempt to rebuild his reputation after the balltamper­ing scandal. The 31-yearold was handed a one-year ban from internatio­nal and state cricket by Cricket Australia for his role in helping to devise a plan to rub sandpaper on the ball during a Test match against South Africa in March.

Vani 9th, Sharmila 13th in Czech Challenge

PRAGUE: Vani Kapoor recorded a fine Top-10 finish as she rounded off the week at the AXA Czech Ladies Challenge with a two-under 70 in the third round to end with a total of five-under 211. Sharmila, who was Tied-2nd after the first round despite an ankle injury suffered during the round, added one-under 71 with five birdies and four bogeys after 68-73 on first two days.

Aditi Ashok misses cut at Meijer LPGA Classic

GRAND RAPIDS, MICHIGAN: Aditi Ashok missed the halfway cut as she shot a dismal 2-over 74 following her first round of 1-over 73 at the Meijer LPGA Classic. At 3-over 147, Aditi missed the cut by a long margin. The cut fell at an incredible low 2-under 138. World No. 6 So Yeon Ryu made five birdies on her inward nine to grab the solo 36-hole lead at 13-under. Thangmuans­ang signs up for Neroca FC

PUNE: Young defender Sebastian Thangmuans­ang will move from FC Pune City to Neroca FC after the two sides reached an agreement on his transfer. The 19-yearold has been with the Pune-based club for a while and was a part of the club’s junior teams. Having won the IFA Shield in 2017, the young defender was loaned to Chennai City FC in the I-league last season where he notched up 12 appearance­s.
