ASHWINI BIDRE MURDER CASE: HC DEFERS BAIL PLEA OF ACCUSED

NAVI MUMBAI: The hearing on bail applicatio­n of BJP leader Eknath Khadse’s nephew, Rajesh Patil, was deferred by the Bombay high court (HC). The date is yet to be announced. Patil, 44, was arrested for his alleged role in the murder of Ashwini Bidregore’s on December 10, 2017. He had earlier applied for bail at Alibaug sessions court in April, which was rejected on April 13. Patil could have applied in the sessions court three times more, but decided to move HC.

Translate entire DCRP in Marathi: Sena corporator­s

MUMBAI: During a recent general body meeting, Shiv Sena corporator­s demanded that the state translates Developmen­t Control and Promotion Regulation­s (DCPR), which is mostly in English, in Marathi. “If they (Urban developmen­t department) do not have anyone to translate the document, we will send someone from civic body. Only the first three pages of the 1,000-page document are in Marathi. We had submitted suggestion­s and objections in Marathi and English,” said mayor, Vishwanath Mahadeshwa­r. The urban developmen­t department is headed by CM Devendra Fadnavis.

Raj Thackeray defends Bank of Maharashtr­a chief

MUMBAI: MNS chief Raj Thackeray on Tuesday defended Bank of Maharashtr­a CEO and MD, Ravindra Marathe, who was arrested recently for his alleged role in DSK Developers Limited fraud case. Thackeray also blamed chief minister Devendra Fadnavis for his arrest. “Marathe was on the inquiry panel probing disbursal of crop loan. He had told Fadnavis that disbursal wasn’t done properly and the state was at fault. This angered Fadnavis and he got him arrested. Marathe had no role in the DSK matter,” said Thackeray.

Gas tanker topples on Ghodbunder Road

THANE: A gas tanker heading towards Thane toppled on Ghodbunder Road, which resulted in traffic congestion for a few minutes. The incident took place on Tuesday. Police and Regional Disaster Management Cell officials reached the spot soon after. The tanker was moved with the help of a crane. The accident occurred after driver lost control of the vehicle.

Domestic help accused of theft commits suicide

MUMBAI: A 19-year-old woman jumped from a high-rise along Jogeshwari-vikhroli Link Road (JVLR) after she was allegedly accused of theft by her employer. According to police, Jyoti Patekar was working as domestic help. “Primary investigat­ion revealed that a few silver ornaments were missing from her employer’s flat. After searching, the employer recovered the ornaments from Jyoti’s bag,” said a police officer.
