PM MODI MEETS INDIA INC, SEEKS INVESTMENT
MUMBAI : Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacted with 41 industry leaders in the country’s financial capital on Tuesday afternoon, seeking their opinion on the implementation of various policies by his government.
At the meeting at Raj Bhavan, Modi, who was in Mumbai to attend the third annual meeting of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), urged the industrialists to pump in investment in various sectors, including agriculture.
Industry leaders, including Mukesh Ambani, Anand Mahindra, Kumar Mangalam Birla, Uday Kotak, were present at the meeting which lasted nearly two hours. The policies and initiatives taken by the Central government in the past four years came up for elaborate discussion. According to officials, the meeting went on more than the scheduled time, as the PM discussed issues such as economic growth, infrastructure development, policy initiatives, investment, innovation and job creation. “As important as the issues discussed was the fact that @Pmoindia spent more time at the session than budgeted & also 45 minutes of unhurried conversation over tea with all participants. A powerful & timely signal of confidence in the Business Community,” Anand Mahindra, executive chairman of Mahindra Group tweeted after the meeting. In the meet ahead of the 2019 polls, India Inc. gave positive feedback to the rollout of GST and appreciated other reforms.
