6 JAGUAR FORCE JAWANS KILLED IN LANDMINE BLAST

RANCHI: Six jawans of the Jharkhand Jaguar Force were killed on Tuesday in a landmine blast carried out by Maoists in Garhwa district, a senior police officer said. Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police Vipul Shukla said the police got informatio­n that several Maoists were present in the Chinjo area of Garhwa district. He said when security personnel went to the area, the Maoists attacked, killing six jawans. Several were also injured, the officer said.

Mistaken for childlifte­r, mob kills a woman in Gujarat

AHMEDABAD: A woman was killed and three other women were injured when a mob allegedly thrashed them after mistaking them to be child-lifter in Ahmedabad on Tuesday evening. “All four were admitted in Ahmedabad Civil Hospital. One of the woman later succumbed to the injuries’’, said an officer of Vadaj police station, adding that a case of murder and rioting has been registered against the mob. Police identified the dead as 40-year-old Shanti Marwadi.

Fish products laced with formalin seized

KOHIMA: Two days after a notificati­on was issued in Nagaland prohibitin­g the sale of formalinla­ced fresh fish products, the Kohima district administra­tion seized such products worth about ₹10 lakh from four vehicles in the state. Nagaland Food Safety Commission­er-cum-commission­er and Secretary Himato Zhimomi on June 22 had prohibited the storage, distributi­on and sale of such for three months.
