STATE GOVT SIGNS 61 MOUS TO UPLIFT 1,000 VILLAGES

MUMBAI: The Maharashtr­a government inked 61 memorandum of understand­ings (Mous) and gave 12 letter of intent (LOI) with leading corporate houses to take ahead its ambitious project of social transforma­tion of 1,000 villages across Maharashtr­a. The Mous with corporates, NGOS and individual­s entail crores of rupees of investment to uplift the backward areas of the state through various projects. The 1000 villages with the lowest human developmen­t index score have been selected for the special programme.

Adani Transmissi­on to take over Reliance’s power biz

MUMBAI: In a ₹18,800-crore deal, Adani Transmissi­on is now set to takeover the Reliance Infrastruc­ture Ltd integrated Mumbai power business. The Maharashtr­a Electricit­y Regulatory Commission (MERC) has finally given its approval to the proposed 100 percent stake sale of Rinfra to Adani Transmissi­on. The companies had signed a definitive binding agreement for 100 percent stake sale of the integrated business of generation, transmissi­on and distributi­on of power for Mumbai in December last year.

Couple commit suicide by hanging from tree

PALGHAR: A couple committed suicide by hanging from a tree in a desolate spot in Vangaon in Dahanu on Thursday. Both the victims were married and were allegedly into an extra marital affair which started from their workplace. No suicide note was found from the spot said a Vangaon police officer. The bodies of Jitesh Dawre and Amrapali Gawai have been sent for post mortem and its report is awaited, said the officier. Despite being married, Dawre and Gawai were having an extra marital affair, said a police officer.

Minor fire breaks out in Santacruz building

MUMBAI: A small fire broke out at Santacruz (West) in Shalimar building in at about 6:13pm. The fire was caused due to short circuit and was soon doused. A Vodafone tower, which was located on top of the terrace, was set ablaze. The building was a ground plus five structure and no casualties were reported. Two fire engines reached the spot and police officers, and officials from Reliance energy and Vodafone also rushed to the spot.
