NEW DELHI : The CBI has booked three leaders of IPFT, a Bjp-ally, along with 300-500 members of the political party in Tripura, after taking over the probes into the killings of two journalist­s in the state last year, officials said on Sunday. Santanu Bhowmik, a journalist from a local television channel, was killed when he went to cover a roadblocka­de agitation on September 21 last year. Another journalist, Sudip Dutta Bhowmik, a reporter with a vernacular newspaper, was killed inside the headquarte­rs of the Tripura State Rifles’ (TSR) 2nd battalion in November 2017.

Raj minister’s son thrashes man, caught on camera

JAIPUR: Son of a minister has been caught on camera thrashing a man after he allegedly did not let his vehicle pass by. The incident took place on June 1 in Banswara but the video went viral on social media on Saturday, in which Raja, son of minister Dhan Singh Rawat, is seen overtaking a Swift car and blocking the road before getting off. He then dragged the driver out before raining blows on him.

‘SP MLA threatened rape survivor’s father in UP’

MEERUT: Father of a gang rape survivor in Gangoh of Saharanpur has accused Samajwadi Party MLA from Kairana Nahid Hasan of threatenin­g his family over the phone, police said. Inspector, Gangoh police station, Jitendra, said they received a complaint from the woman’s father on Saturday and added that further investigat­ions were on. “The complainan­t said the MLA asked him to withdraw the names of the accused,” Jitendra said.

Sharmila is first transgende­r person to be a lawyer in TN
