MHADA TO BUILD 1,514 LOWCOST HOMES IN NAGPUR

MUMBAI : Maharashtr­a Housing and Area Developmen­t Authority (Mhada) will build 1,514 low-cost housing units in Nagpur. Prices for these houses will be between ₹10.62 lakh and ₹27.70 lakh. These houses are covered under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) scheme.

Man rapes employee’s 10yearold sister, held

MUMBAI : A 29-year-old owner of a factory in Malad (East) has been arrested for allegedly raping, assaulting and threatenin­g a 10-year-old girl, whose sister worked in his factory. Medical reports confirmed the girl was raped, the police said. An FIR was lodged at Kurar police station under relevant sections of the IPC and POCSO Act. The accused is in police custody.

35yearold man commits suicide near Bandra station

MUMBAI : A 35-year-old man allegedly committed suicide on Tuesday by hanging himself from the overhead telephone wires near Bandra railway station. According to police, Shamsuddin Halim had come to Mumbai from West Bengal a fortnight ago.

14 arrested for assaulting three cops in Mira Road

THANE: Fourteen people, including two women, were arrested by Mira Road police for allegedly assaulting three policemen in a flat on Monday night. The incident took place at Samruddhi Apartments in Poonam Garden. Police said they received a complaint about music blaring from one of the flats. All three constables who went to investigat­e were assaulted by those present in the flat.

2 arrested for sodomising, killing 7yrold boy in May

DOMBIVLI: Two months after a seven-year-old boy was sodomised and murdered in Dombivli, Manpada police arrested two plumbers. The accused has thrown the boy in a water tank. Police said the accused lured the boy roaming who was loitering near their building.

Three secure home loan by submitting fake documents

BHIWANDI: Three people, including a couple, were booked for allegedly cheating a nationalis­ed bank of ₹29.5 lakh by submitting fake documents for securing a home loan in 2009. The bank officials discovered the fraud on Monday following which they filed a police complaint. An FIR has been filed the trio.

Man stabs estranged wife’s partner to death in Digha

NAVI MUMBAI: A 35-year-old man allegedly stabbed his estranged wife’s partner to death at Digha on Monday night. Police have launched a manhunt to arrest the accused Jahid Ansari.
