2ND LIST TO BE OUT TOMORROW, FYJC ASPIRANTS GET ANXIOUS

MUMBAI:THE delay in the second merit list in the admission to first-year junior college (FYJC) has made students more anxious.

The second merit list for admissions to first-year junior colleges (FYJC), which was scheduled to be out on June 16, has been postponed to July 19.

In its July 12 order, the Nagpur bench of the Bombay high court said the state can continue allotting seats under the central admission process to non-minority institute. Only after it is over can students be allotted seats surrendered by minority colleges.

Over 58,000 out of 75,939 students who have applied are still awaiting admission.

Pooja Chougule, sibling of an applicant, said, “We are tensed about securing an admission in the second list, considering there are very few vacant seats left in good colleges.”

She added that they might have to sacrifice quality education to secure admission.

However, some students are more excited than anxious about the second merit list, despite the delays.

“The list has been delayed multiple times. Though I am anxious, I’m quite excited may be because I haven’t been academically occupied for a long time,” said Shreesha Suhan, former student of Parle Tilak Vidya Mandir, Vile Parle.

Although some colleges have begun classes, students are not particularly worried. “I have done well in Class 10 examination and hence so I am not worried about colleges starting classes as the initial classes are a repeat of what we were taught in classes 9 and 10,” said Hitansh Metha, former student, St Francis School, Borivli.
