AICTE CAUTIONS AGAINST FIRING TEACHERS

-

NEW DELHI: The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) that recently revised the faculty-student ratio from 1:15 to 1:20 has cautioned institutions that it cannot downsize the teaching faculty due to revision of faculty student ratio norms. “The ratio can only be adjusted on superannuation of faculty or resignation on their own,” states the AICTE notice issued to all the approved technical institutes. The notice stated that state governments and universities may ensure that downsizing of faculty due to revised faculty student ratio should not be done by any AICTE approved institutions.

‘Take action against unapproved institutes’

NEW DELHI: The AICTE has written to all states asking them to take action against unapproved engineering and technical institutes operating in the state. “It has come to the notice of the Council that some institutions in various states/uts are offering technical education, which is not approved by AICTE. You may agree that permitting such unauthorised institutions to impart technical education will be detrimental to the interest of the student community in terms of recognition of the course... In this context, it is the responsibility of the concerned state govt to prevent the student community falling a prey to such institutions set up for monetary consideration,” reads the letter issued by the regulator.
