135 RAIL TICKETS BOOKED 50 MINS BEFORE TIME

MUMBAI: Around 135 tickets of the eight special trains which are scheduled for Ganesh Chaturthi on the Konkan route were booked 50 minutes before the booking services were opened on Friday. Though the commuters’ groups doubt that it was for the benefit of agents, Central Railway (CR) claimed that it was “purely unintentio­nal” on the part of a data staffer who erroneousl­y put the year 2017 instead of 2018, causing the window to open before time.

Ulhasnagar resident stands third in CA final exam

MUMBAI: Ulhasnagar resident Samiksha Agarwal has come third in Chartered Accountant­s (CA) final examinatio­n. The Institute of Chartered Accountant­s of India (ICAI) has released the results of the CA final examinatio­n, foundation examinatio­n and Common Proficienc­y Test (CPT). More than 1.21 lakh candidates were admitted in the final exam (old course) across 381 global exam centres. For the new course, 5,406 candidates were admitted and 239 centres were set up.

Man booked for running over dog in Thane

THANE: A 10-year-old dog suffered multiple injuries, and is in a critical condition, after a speeding four-wheeler hit the animal on Wednesday. The dog’s skin was peeled off as he was dragged up to 50m. The police have booked the driver, Naresh Patil, a Shildaigha­r resident, for rash and negligent driving various sections of IPC.
