CRASH WITH ANOTHER BIKER KILLS TEENAGER IN MALAD

MUMBAI: In a hit-and-run accident at Marve in Malad (West), an 18-year-old biker was killed after he was struck by another bike on Saturday morning. He was not wearing a helmet.

According to the Malwani police, the accident took place around 10am on the east-bound stretch of Marve road near Green village in Malwani. The victim, Manish Jha, was a resident of Shankarwad­i near INS Hamla on Marve road.

“The accident took place after Jha left his home in the morning. An unidentifi­ed biker came from behind and rammed into Jha’s bike. He fled the spot, without helping Jha or calling up the police,” said an officer from Malwani police station.

Jha suffered grievous injuries to his face and was taken to a nearby hospital by passers-by. However, he was declared dead at the hospital.

His father Ranjeet Jha, 47, lodged a complaint, following which the Malwani police registered a first informatio­n report (FIR) station under sections 279 (rash driving), 304-A (causing death by negligence ) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), and sections 134-A and B (for escaping from the spot without rendering help to the victim or informing the police) of the Motor Vehicles Act. Senior inspector of Malwani police station Deepak Phatangare, said, “We are trying to trace the accused.”
