MAN, MOTHER HELD FOR SETTING HIS WIFE ON FIRE

THANE : Police arrested a man and his mother for allegedly killing his 24-year-old wife by setting her ablaze. Sangam Vayle, 30, got married to Vaishali, 30, in May 2016. Sangam and his mother Lilabai, 60, used to harass Vaishali by calling her a ‘bad omen’, said Thane police spokespers­on Sukhada Narkar. On July 20, the accused poured kerosene on Vaishali and set her ablaze after which she died. After a complaint lodged by Vaishali’s family members, the police filed a case offence and arrested Sangam and Lilabai on July 20.

Husband, inlaws booked for domestic violence

PUNE: A 21-year-old woman from Pune lodged a complaint against five persons, including her husband and in-laws. In her complaint, the woman alleged domestic violence and said she was taken to a self-proclaimed godman where she was subjected to exorcism. The complaint was filed at Kondhwa police station after the woman managed to escape and reached her parents’ residence in Pune.

Loud music kills 75yrold at grandson’s wedding

KOLHAPUR: Kashinath Sutar, 75, died of a heart attack he suffered owing to the loud music that was being played at venue of his grandson’s wedding. The incident occurred at Aitwade in Sangli on Friday. Police said repeated requests to lower the volume went unheard.
