Roglic wins stage 19 of Tour
LARUNS,FRANCE: Britain’s Geraint Thomas defended the Tour de France yellow jersey on Friday as Slovenian Primoz Roglic won the 19th stage on the final day in the mountains.
Thomas finished second on the stage at 19secs behind the Lotto-jumbo rider after he had launched an impressive attack before the summit of the Col d’aubisque.
Roglic claimed his second stage win on the race to move up to third overall at 2min 24sec behind Thomas, who leads Dutchman Tom Dumoulin (Sunweb) by 1:59, and ahead of fourtime champion Chris Froome.
MURRAY, AZARENKA HANDED WILD CARDS
CINCINNATI:ANDY Murray and Victoria Azarenka have been handed wild cards to compete at the Cincinnati Open, the organisers have said. Murray pulled out of the Wimbledon saying his right hip hasn’t recovered .
Two-time Slam winner Azarenka, who won at Cincinnati in 2013, will return to the draw for the first time since 2016 as she continues her comeback following a legal battle over the custody of her son Leo.
KYRGIOS SAILS INTO ATLANTA QUARTERS
AATLANTA: Nick Kyrgios reached the Atlanta Open quarters, though Frances Tiafoe and Jeremy Chardy were not so fortunate. Kyrgios needed just 56 minutes to dismantle Noah Rubin 7-5, 6-2. Kyrgios hit 15 aces and won 83 per cent of his service points to move into the last eight.
