DOMBIVLI: A 32-year-old man was killed and his brother was severely injured after a scuffle broke out between them and a group that turned down an offer to employ one of them.

The victim has been identified as 32-year-old Kundan Joshi. His brother, Mukesh Joshi, who suffered severe injuries was taken to a nearby private hospital.

According to the police, a private company offered Kundan a job via Whatsapp a few days ago but withdrew it quickly without any explanation.

The communication between the two on the messaging application soured quickly, and they agreed to sort it out in person on Sunday, said Rajendra Mungekar, senior police inspector, Vishnunagar police station.

Once Kundan and his brother reached the meeting spot in a lane near Sakaram complex in old Dombivli, a group of 12 people arrived and assaulted the brothers with weapons.

While Kundan was killed in the brawl, Mukesh suffered severe injuries and was admitted to a hospital nearby.

“Four of them have been arrested. A member of the accused group also suffered injuries during the scuffle. We are investigating and registering a case under relevant sections on both the groups,” Mungekar said.

The Vishnu Nagar police are now checking if the company that offered the job to Kundan Joshi is a fake company or was being operated by a secret racket.

“We are questioning members of both groups and also checking their mobile phones for more details about the job offer and the scuffle that broke out,” he added.
