Potholes on Sionpanvel highway: HC to hear PIL

NAVI MUMBAI: The public interest litigation (PIL) filed by Khargharba­sed social activist Deepak Singh on July 16 is up for discussion in Bombay high court today. In his PIL, Singh accused authoritie­s and CM Devendra Fadnavis for failing to maintain the highway, due to which the highway developed potholes, leading to many accidents.

School students’ parents complain against fee hike

MUMBAI: The parents of a Dahisar school complained to the state education department about the arbitrary fee hike. Parents said the school had indiscrimi­nately hiked fees by 38% in two years under various heads and was discussing the issue. The school did not respond to the allegation­s.

BMC career counsellin­g for farming, defence aspirants

MUMBAI: The civic body will provide dedicated career counsellin­g sessions for municipal school children interested in fields like farming and defence. The sessions will begin from Class 9 this year onwards, instead of Class 10 and will be held in August.

Rickshaw driver held for passing lewd comments

MUMBAI: The Sakinaka police arrested a rickshaw driver from Powai on Saturday for calling a 50-year-old woman a prostitute on July 22, while she was at a bus stop. Rafiq Nadaf, 26, drove rashly due to which his rickshaw hit the woman. The woman then asked Nadaf to drive properly, following which he called her a prostitute and fled. The woman managed to note the rickshaw’s details and approached the police.
