- Arvind Walmiki

DOMBIVLI: A day after a 32-yearold man was killed in a scuffle in Dombivli, the police recovered weapons which the accused used for the crime. Kundan Joshi, a contractor, and his brother Mukesh got a message for a job, which offered them good salary. An argument broke out between the two over applying for it and the brothers decided to meet to sort it out. Kundan had come with his friends.

After they met, another argument broke out between the brothers as both wanted to take up the job. The police said a group of more than 12 people reached the spot with weapons and hockey sticks. The group of men beat up Kundan.

“Mukesh had alerted his friends that he was going to meet his brother over a job and that they had been fighting over it,” said Rajendra Mungekar, senior police inspector from Vishnunagar police station. “Kundan was attacked brutally. The accused fled after the attack. The locals saw Kundan lying unconscious and took him to hospital. But, he was declared dead on arrival.”

A teenage boy saw the attack and lodged a case. “We arrested Ganesh Pawar, 23, Yusuf Khan, 33, Niraj Dubey, 29, and 16-yearold boy. The three were sent to police custody while the minor was sent to a remand home,” said Mungekar.

He added, “We are searching for other accused and also are getting more details from eyewitnesses. We have seized hockey sticks, knife, iron rods which the accused used to hit Kundan.”

The police are also tracing the location of the company from where the message for a job was sent.
