87 MEN JOINED MILITANCY THIS YR IN S KASHMIR

NEW DELHI: As many as 87 youths in Jammu and Kashmir have joined militancy in four districts of the Southern part of the Valley this year, the government informed the Parliament on Tuesday. Minister of state for home Hansraj Ahir said that till July 20 this year, 87 new recruits joined militancy in four South Kashmir districts – Kulgam, Anantnag, Shopian and Pulwama. Maximum recruitmen­t of 35 boys was in Pulwama followed by 23 in Shopian, 15 in Kulgam and 14 in Anantnag, the minister said.

Joshi points out mistake in agenda papers of LS

NEW DELHI: Senior BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi on Tuesday pointed out to a mistake in the agenda papers of the Lok Sabha, calling it a violation of a constituti­onal provision relating to business of the House. Joshi said the revised agenda papers in English say today is Tuesday, the one in Hindi mentions the day as ‘guruvar’ or Thursday. Speaker Sumitra Mahajan said she agrees that it was a mistake and will see how it happened.

Kovind to confer award on Azad, Heptulla today

NEW DELHI: Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad, Manipur governor Najma Heptulla and BJD MP Bhartruhar­i Mahtab will be conferred the Outstandin­g Parliament­arian award on Wednesday by President Ram Nath Kovind. Heptulla will get the award for the 2013, Lok Sabha member Hukumdev Narayan Yadav for 2014. Both are from the BJP. The award will be given to Azad for 2015, TMC MP Dinesh Trivedi for 2016 and Mahtab for 2017.

34 cases of sedition under trial: Govt tells LS

NEW DELHI: As many as 34 cases of sedition were under trial in different parts of the country, while the accused in one such case were convicted in 2016, Union minister Hansraj Ahir said on Tuesday.
