PATNA: Mystery shrouds the death of Bihar’s ruling Janata Dal (United) legislator Bima Bharti’s eldest son, whose body was found near the railway track on the Patna – Jhajha mainline on Friday morning. Deepak Kumar Mandal was 18 years old and had keen interest in politics. Bharti, the JD(U) member of the legislativ­e assembly (MLA) from Rupauli in Purnea district, alleged that her son had been murdered, after his body was discovered close to the Rajendra Nagar terminal on the eastern side of l Patna. Driver charred to death as Maoists set lorry on fire

RANCHI: The driver of a lorry on way to Durgapur was charred to death after his vehicle was burnt down on Khunti-tamar road, around 50 km from state capital Ranchi, allegedly by the members of the outlawed CPI (Maoists) who had called for a day-long bandh in Jharkhand and Bihar, police said. The incident took place at around 12.30pm at Arajhapi village, around fourt km from Soyko police station when the bandh supporters allegedly stopped the vehicle and set it on fire.

NIA charge sheet against 6 over LET terrorist’s escape

NEW DELHI: The NIA on Friday filed charge sheet against six people in a case related to the escape of LET terrorist Mohd Naveed Jatt from a hospital in Jammu and Kashmir, according to an official statement. His role is also suspected in the killing of journalist Shujaat Bhukhari. The agency said the conspiracy to free the Pakistan-born terrorist was hatched in central jail, where he was lodged.
