MUMBAI: Three weeks after a 26-year-old man was allegedly kidnapped and killed for having an affair with a 23-year-old woman, her 50-year-old father, an electronic engineer working for a private firm in Dubai, was arrested on Monday.

Surendra Mishra’s body was found on Titwala railway tracks on July 15.

The police said the woman’s father, Rajendra Tiwari, had confessed to having killed Mishra. Tiwari fled to Dubai after killing Mishra, said the police. Mishra and the woman lived in the same locality in Thane.

On July 14, Mishra told his girlfriend he wanted to move to a new house owing to constant threats from her family. The same day, he received numerous calls from an unidentified person, asking him if he wanted to see a room.

“Convinced, Mishra reached Teen Haath Naka. The caller again asked him to board a car, which took him to a room in Kopri,” said an officer from the Thane crime branch.

When Mishra reached the room accompanied by Bhaskar Naringakr, 67, a retired BEST employee, and Ravi Ashok Choudhary, 34, a plumber, his face was covered.

Tiwari, Naringakr and Choudhary allegedly beat up Mishra and forced him to drink liquor. Early in the morning, he was taken to Kandivli railway station, hit with a sharp weapon on the back of his head and left him on the tracks, said the officer quoted above. Naringakr and Choudhary were arrested a few days ago. Tiwari was arrested from the Mumbai airport on Monday when he returned from Dubai.
