19YEAROLD DIES AFTER FALLING OFF FAST TRAIN

MUMBAI : A 19-year-old girl died on Thursday afternoon from her injuries after falling off a train between Mira Road and Dahisar. Revati Pillai was travelling in the Churchgate fast local on August 3 when she fell on the tracks. Sachin Patil, senior police inspector of Borivli government railway police (GRP), said, “Pillai had suffered severe injuries on her head and shoulders.”

Man escapes with ₹40 lakh on friend’s scooter, held

MUMBAI: A 32-year-old Babu Gargade was arrested on Thursday for fleeing with a bag containing ₹40 lakh that his friend Natha Namdev Dalvi, 24, had asked him to hold. Pydhonie police traced Gargade to his village in Karnataka and arrested him. “As Dalvi’s arm was injured, he handed the cash bag to Gargade to hold who then rode off on Dalvi’s scooter,” said Avinash Kanade, senior inspector, Pydhonie police.

Kidnapped 5yearold boy rescued by Sakinaka cops

MUMBAI: Mohammad Arif, 5, was rescued by Sakinaka police after being kidnapped. Shakir Ali, the boy’s father received a phone call demanding a ransom of ₹1 lakh. Police were able to trace the number to Ali’s neighbour, Akram Khan. “We arrested Khan but the child was not with him. Khan later informed us that the boy was at the house of his girlfriend’s friend,” said the officer.
