Kothari, Parikh hog limelight

MUMBAI: Sourav Kothari hogged the limelight as he strung up two double century breaks in each of his wins against Maharashtr­a players Arun Agrawal and Nishant Dossa in his Group H league engagement­s in the Cricket Club of India Billiards Classic 2018, here on Thursday.

Siddharth Parikh of Railways made a bright start winning his opening two Group E matches against Loukic Pathare and S Simhachala­m. Meanwhile, Alok Kumar and Neeraj Kumar won their respective concluding Group D matches to qualify for the pre-quarter finals.

Talented 16-year-old Yash Fadte of Goa produced a great performanc­e to defeat Chaitanya Shah of Mumbai 11-8, 11-6, 9-11, 11-5 and emerge champion at the 3rd Indian Classic Junior Open Squash Tournament at the Bombay Gymkhana glass-back squash courts on Thursday.

In the girls’ U-19 final, Sanya Vats defeated top-seed Amita Gondi 11-6, 9-11, 11-5, 11-2 to clinch the title.

Laxman Rawat of Bombay Gymkhana enjoyed a good rolls of the balls and with some consistent perfect potting eased past Aditya Agrawal of Elphinston­e CC by a 1-5 margin in a semi-final match of the ECC All India Open 6-Red Snooker Tournament 2018, played at the Elphinston­e Cricket Club billiards room.
