Cyber crime site gets 5 plaints in 24 days

MUMBAI: The online portal that was launched on August 1 on which any person anywhere in India can lodge complaints on cyber crime against women and children, has received five complaints so far.
On this portal once can anonymously lodge complaints against cyber crimes related to child pornography, voyeurism, MMS clips and other sexually explicit videos compromising women safety. The Ministry of Home Affairs has created the portal as per the directions of the Supreme Court. The link to the portal can be accessed by clicking on this link - http:// Cybercrime.gov.in
Speaking about the portal, the nodal officer appointed in the state, special inspector general, Maharashtra (Cyber), Brijesh Singh said,”the portal enables you to report complaints anonymously as well. The complaints comes to us and we forward it to the police department concerned for further action.”
Balsingh Rajput, superintendent of police (SP), cyber, Maharashtra, said five complaints from Maharashtra have been received through the portal since it became active from August 1. “All the complaints are cyber crimes related to women or child sexual abuse. We have forwarded the complaint to the police commissionerates and SPS concerned for further action. The complainant is also updated about the complaint by the police,” he added .
