CENTRE SENDS BACK 3 SENIOR IAS OFFICERS TO J&K

NEW DELHI : The Centre on Friday sent back three senior IAS officers to Jammu and Kashmir before completion of their tenure here. The Appointmen­ts Committee of the Cabinet has approved premature repatriati­on of Arun Kumar Mehta, Atal Dulloo and Manoj Kumar Dwivedi to Jammu and Kashmir, according to an order issued by the personnel ministry. All of them are IAS officers of J-K cadre. Mehta is Additional Secretary in the ministry of environmen­t, forest and climate change. Dulloo and Dwivedi are joint secretarie­s in the department of rural developmen­t and the commerce ministry respective­ly.

Naga interlocut­or RN Ravi gets extension

NEW DELHI : The Centre on Friday granted an extension to its main interlocut­or in Nagaland, RN Ravi. The Appointmen­ts Committee of the Cabinet approved the extension until further order. Ravi was appointed as chairman of Joint Intelligen­ce Committee, which works under the National Security Council Secretaria­t (NSCS) in September 2014. The 1976-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of the Kerala cadre had retired as Special Director in the Intelligen­ce Bureau in 2012.

One dead, 9 missing after boat capsizes in Ganga

BIJNOR: A woman died and nine other people were missing after a boat capsized in the Ganga on Friday, officials said. Bijnor district magistrate Atal Kumar Rai said there were 27 people on the boat which sank in the Ganga near Rajarampur village under Mandawar police station area. Seventeen, including six women, have been rescued, he said. Nine people are still missing, he added. In another mishap in Bijnor district, a truck was swept away in Kotawali river. All its occupants were rescued, police said.
