GUNMAN KILLS TWO, THEN HIMSELF AT FLORIDA VIDEO GAME TOURNAMENT
JACKSONVILLE: A gunman opened fire at an online video game tournament as it was being livestreamed from a Florida mall, killing two people and then fatally shooting himself in a rampage that wounded several others, authorities said. Jacksonville sheriff Mike Williams said authorities believed 24year-old David Katz of Baltimore carried out the attack on Sunday using at least one handgun at the Jacksonville Landing, a collection of restaurants and shops along the St Johns River. Williams said the man died from a self-inflicted gunshot, adding final confirmation of the suspect’s identity was pending as the FBI in Baltimore aided in the investigation. Nine other people were wounded by gunfire and all were in a stable condition. AP
Pakistan: Zardari appears in money laundering case
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s former president Asif Ali Zardari and his sister Faryal Talpur appeared before a joint investigation team of the Federal Investigation Agency on Monday in Islamabad to record their statement in a Rs 35 billion money laundering and fake bank accounts case. In July, the Supreme Court listed Zardari and his sister as beneficiaries in an alleged scam that led to the arrest of the Pakistan People’s Party co-chairman’s close aide Hussain Lawai.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has banned VIP culture at airports for “influential people” including politicians, judges and military officials as part of the new government’s austerity plan, media reports said on Monday. The decision will be implemented to provide equal opportunities to all travellers without any discrimination.
Iran goes to UN court over reimposed US sanctions
THE HAGUE: Iran went to the UN’S highest court on Monday in a bid to have US sanctions lifted following President Donald Trump’s decision to re-impose them, calling the move “naked economic aggression.” Iran filed the case with the International Court of Justice in July, claiming that the sanctions the Trump administration imposed on May 8 breach a 1955 bilateral agreement known as the Treaty of Amity that regulates economic and consular ties between the two countries.
