MUMBAI: The Bhakti Kala Kshetra, the cultural wing of ISKCON, organised a six-day musical festival, Radha Krishna Utsav 2018, between August 27 and September 1. The festival,under the supervisio­n of chairman, Mahesh Sharma, witnessed performanc­es of artists at ISKCON Juhu on the occasion of Krishna Janmashtam­i.

Lab technician duped of ₹28 lakh, accused held

MUMBAI: Govandi police arrested a 23-year-old man who allegedly cheated a lab technician of ₹28 lakh. The accused, Javed Khan, had promised the technician a bonus in her insurance policy and had in the last 18 months, asked the woman to pay different amounts of money to get the bonus.

43% engineerin­g seats in Maharashtr­a lie vacant

MUMBAI: Over 43% seats have gone vacant in engineerin­g institutes across Maharashtr­a this year. The seat vacancy stood at 36% in the academic year 2017-18 and 44.78% in the academic year 2016-17. The vacancy of seats in engineerin­g institutee­s has been a concern for some years now for the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). Around 2.62 lakh students appeared for the CET for admissions to engineerin­g seats in the state this year.

Parel blaze: Civic chief felicitate­s 10yearold

MUMBAI: Municipal commission­er Ajoy Mehta, on Saturday, felicitate­d Zen Sadavarte, the 10-yearold who saved about 14-15 lives during the Crystal Towers fire. The girl was praised by many for keeping her cool during the blaze and using fire-fighting techniques to save her neighbours, which she had learnt in school, during the August 22 fire tragedy, which killed four people.
