MUMBAI: The Khar police formed a special team to crack the Khar (West) daylight robbery case, which took place on Wednesday. Four men, posing as delivery boys, entered the 12th-floor apartment of a garment businessman –Nadir Sayyed –threatened his daughter and wife on knife point, tied them up and decamped with ₹63 lakh cash.

The police have not ruled out the role of the building’s security guard or the family’s former domestic help, as the accused knew when the women were alone at home and also that there was so much cash in the house.

A police officer from Khar said, “We are interrogating the security guards and others who visit the society everyday to supply newspapers, milk and grocery. The society did not install CCTV cameras, due to which the investigation has become a little difficult.”

Police are checking the CCTV cameras installed around the area to get leads.

“With the help of the complainant’s wife and daughter and the society guards, we are sifting through photos of criminals involved in similar cases to find out if any of them are involved in this robbery,” he added.

The manager of the security guards, said, “The four robbers entered the building separately. The first one told the guards he had to deliver a package on the 12th floor. Within a few minutes, three others came and said they had a parcel for a flat on the fifth floor.”

When the robbers left the vicinity, there was no guard at the front gate. One of them went to start the water pump, while the other one was at the back gate.
