WOMAN FILES NC AGAINST MLA IN GHATKOPAR POLICE STATION
MUMBAI: In more trouble for the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Ghatkopar MLA Ram Kadam, the Ghatkopar police on Friday registered a non-cognisable (NC) offence over his “kidnap girls” remark.
The NC was filed based on a complaint by Sneha Kurhade, 50, a housewife from Ghatkopar. Earlier this week in Ghatkopar, Kadam was videotaped saying he would kidnap girls to marry them off to men who they had rejected.
The video was widely shared, and both Kadam and his party have been criticised by opposition parties and activists for the statement.
An NC under Indian Penal Code (IPC) section 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace) has been registered. If a police official wants to investigate the NC then he must take court permission. Once granted permission, he has to submit the probe report to the court after investigation.
BMC on Friday with Congress wanting dismissal of Kadam.
Congress corporators in BMC wore black bands on their arms, in protest against Kadam.
Ravi Raja, leader of opposition said, “We demand that an FIR be lodged against Kadam. The CM must remove him from the party, and he should be made to issue a public apology.” However, leader of BJP in BMC, Manoj Kotak, said, “This is the matter of the state. The issue must be taken up in the legislative assembly. It has nothing to do with BMC.”
