ANSHULA KANT APPOINTED MD OF STATE BANK

NEW DELHI: Anshula Kant was Thursday appointed as the managing director of State Bank of India (SBI), an official order said. She is at present the deputy MD in the bank. The Appointmen­ts Committee of the Cabinet approved the appointmen­t of Kant as the managing director (MD), SBI till the date of her superannua­tion i.e. September 30, 2020, the order issued by the personnel ministry said. Her name was recommende­d by the Bank Boards Bureau for the post. The post of MD, SBI fell vacant after the resignatio­n of B Sriram, who took over as the MD of IDBI Bank.

RBI tweaks norms for exchange of torn currency

MUMBAI: The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Friday tweaked norms for exchange of mutilated currency notes following introducti­on of ₹2,000, ₹200 and other lower denominati­on currencies. Post demonetisa­tion in November 2016, the Reserve Bank has introduced ₹200 and ₹2,000 notes. Besides, it came out with smaller notes of ₹10, ₹20, ₹50, ₹100 and ₹500. Public can exchange banks mutilated or defective notes at RBI offices and designated bank branches across the country for either full or half value, depending upon the condition of the currency.

British Airways reports customer data breach

LONDON: British Airways said that the personal and financial details of customers making bookings between August 21 and September 5 had been stolen in a data breach involving 380,000 bank cards. The almost two week long hack did not involve travel or passport details, the airline said, adding that it had launched an urgent investigat­ion into the theft of customer data. “The personal and financial details of customers making bookings on our website and app were compromise­d,” it said. “The breach has been resolved and our website is working normally. We have notified the police and relevant authoritie­s.”

Ford India recalls 7,249 units of petrol Ecosport

NEW DELHI: Ford India Friday said it is recalling 7,249 units of petrol Ecosport to update the powertrain control module (PCM) software. In a statement, Ford India said it is voluntaril­y inspecting 7,249 Ecosport petrol vehicles, manufactur­ed between November 2017 and March 2018, to update the PCM software. The software update action is in line with company’s continued commitment to ensure quality of its vehicles and will eliminate any remote chance of sudden decelerati­on or battery drainage, it added. In July, Ford had announced recall of 5,397 units of Ecosport to rectify faulty front lower control arm and driver and front passenger seat recliner locks.

Mobile wallet transactio­ns hit ₹15,202 crore in July

NEW DELHI: The value of transactio­ns made through mobile wallets touched a record ₹15, 202 crore in July, Reserve Bank of India (RBI) data released on Friday showed rising around 4% from ₹14,632 crore in June. The number of transactio­ns also increased by around 5% to 325.28 million in July which brings it very close to the an all-time high of 325.41 million in May. Around 309.62 million transactio­ns were recorded in June.
