Praful, Sarfaraz slam tons for Payyade CC

MUMBAI: Praful Waghela, with a top knock of 139 runs, and Sarfaraz Khan, with 109 runs, impressed slamming fine centuries for Payyade CC in their Dr HD Kanga Cricket League’s drawn ‘A’ Division match with Sind SC on Sunday.

Also, Karnataka SA’S Rudra Dhandey struck an unbeaten 120 in their draw with Dadar Union. MIG CC medium pacer Pratik Dabholkar claimed a five-wicket haul to help them score victory on the basis of their first innings lead over Fort Vijay.

DOVIZIOSO WINS SAN MARINO GP FOR DUCATI

MISANO ADRIATICO, ITALY: Italy’s Andrea Dovizioso won the San Marino Motogp on Sunday for the Ducati rider’s third success of the season ahead of world championsh­ip leader Marc Marquez of Honda.

Britain’s Cal Crutchlow was third on a Honda with pole sitter Jorge Lorenzo of Ducati falling with two laps to go at Misano.

Four-time world champion Marquez of Spain extends his overall world championsh­ip lead to 67 points ahead of Dovizioso, who takes second spot from Italian Valentino Rossi, who finished in seventh place.

JOHNSON RECOVERING FROM ‘MINI STROKE’

LONDON: Michael Johnson is recovering from a ‘mini stroke’, the Olympic champion and former world record-holder said on Twitter on Saturday but expects to make a full recovery.

“Last week I rather surprising­ly suffered what’s known as a Transient Ischemic Attack or mini stroke,” the 50-year-old tweeted. “The good news is I’m back at home with my family, cleared of any ... issues and have already made great progress on my road to a full recovery.”

Johnson became the first man to win both the 200 and 400 metres at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics and then captured gold in the 400 four years later in Sydney.
