1 DEAD, 1 HURT IN HITANDRUN CASE IN NAVI MUMBAI

NAVI MUMBAI: A 28-year-old

Pune resident died, while his friend suffered minor injuries after a two-wheeler they were travelling on, was hit by an unknown vehicle, while they were crossing the Airoli bridge on Thane-belpaur road on Sunday morning. Police said Shankar Dutta Giri was rushed to a hospital but died there during treatment.

MUMBAI : The Election Commission declared bypoll for former state agriculture minister Pandurang Fundkar’s Legislative Council seat on October 3. The seat has been vacant after Fundkar’s death in May.

2 Sena Kalyandombivli corporators get into scuffle

KALYAN : The Bazarpeth police on Monday detained around 20 associates of Sena corporators from Dombivli Dipesh Mhatre,30, and Ramesh Mhatre,56, who tried barging into the meeting hall, after the two entered into a scuffle. Dipesh had proposed for a railway overbridge in Motagaon, which Ramesh objected to, leading to an argument between the two.

Dombivli: Teen stabs elder brother to death

DOMBIVLI: The Manpada police arrested a 19-year-old man, identified as Suraj Lashkar, for stabbing his elder brother, Nagesh, 26, to death at Star colony in Dombivli East on Sunday. Nagesh was in an inebriated state and slapped Suraj after an argument, after which the accused killed his brother.
