SRI LANKA’S CHANDIMAL OUT OF ASIA CUP

COLOMBO: Sri Lanka Test captain Dinesh Chandimal on Monday was withdrawn from the 16member squad for the Asia Cup because of an injury he suffered during a recent domestic tournament. The 28-year-old batsman had injured his finger during a T20 game and needs more time to recover. Chandimal will be replaced by wicket-keeper batsman Niroshan Dickwella at the six-team tournament, which begins on Saturday.

Police begin probe into

Sri Lanka Cricket fraud COLOMBO: Criminal investigat­ors were called on Monday to investigat­e an alleged $ 5.5 million fraud at Sri Lanka Cricket involving money from a looming England tour. Detectives from the police Criminal Investigat­ion Department went to the offices of the national governing body in Colombo to begin a probe. Official sources said the $ 5.5 million was for television rights for the upcoming England tour of Sri Lanka involving five ODIS, a lone T20 and three Tests between October 10 and November 27.

Bharat’s century puts India A in command versus Aus A

BENGALURU: Srikar Bharat’s century and Kuldeep Yadav’s 52 put India A on top against Australia A in the second unofficial ‘Test’ at Alur on Monday. At stumps on Day 3, Australia A were 38/2 in their second innings, still trailing India A by 121 runs. Earlier, the visitors had scored 346 in their first innings.
