Lucknow:middle-order batsman Prab Simran Singh slammed a century to help India A crush Afghanistan by 140 runs in an U-19 quadrangular series game on Wednesday. India B too notched up a 40-run win vs Nepal in the other match of the day.

Making full use of the placid turf at the Ekana International Cricket Stadium, Patiala lad Prab Simran struck an 83-ball 104 (12x4, 4x6) as India A piled up 328/8 in 50 overs after being sent in to bat. Skipper Pavan Shah made a 57-ball 67 and Ayush Badoni made 52 off just 39 balls.

In reply, Afghanistan collapsed for 188 in 46.5 overs. Opener Reyaz Hassan (69, 86b, 6x4, 1x6) and Arif Khan Dawalatzai (37, 52b, 5x4) offered some resistance to a disciplined bowling attack. Mohit Jangra, Harsh Tyagi, Badoni and Yashasvi Jaiswal shared eight wickets among themselves.

The tie turned out to be good practice for the Indian team bound for the under-19 Asia Cup in Bangladesh later this month. Brief scores: India A 328 for 8 in 50 overs (P Singh 104, P Shah 67, Ayush Badoni 52, YB Jaiswal 35, AR Rahmani 4/66, R Hassan 2/33) beat Afghanistan 188 in 46.5 overs (R Hasan 69, AK Dawlatzai 37, M Jangra 2/17, YB Jaiswal 2/20, A Badoni 2/34, H Tyagi 2/34).

India B 161 in 49 overs (Q Iqbal 50, KA Airee 3/31, P Sarraf 2/31) beat Nepal 121 in 41.3 overs (B Sharki 30, KS Airee 22, P Yadav 3/22, S Hadge 3/29, S Raj 2/20).
