OUTSTATION TRAIN’S ENGINE FAILS, CENTRAL LINE AFFECTED

The NCP chief, Sharad Pawar, who was also present on the occasion, said, “Cooperativ­e banks are the pillar of the financial sector, as they are intrinsica­lly inclusive and offer support to society’s marginalis­ed sections, which find it difficult to access nationalis­ed banks.”

Pawar also said all banks must run independen­t of government politics. BADLAPUR: Commuters on the Central line faced severe inconvenie­nce after the engine of a Hyderabad-mumbai train failed between Ambernath and Badlapur stations. Commuters were stranded between the two stations towards the Up direction from noon to 1.15pm.

They were angry, as the disruption in services occurred for the second consecutiv­e day. On Friday, Central Railway (CR) lines were hit for more than 12 hours, after a rail inspection vehicle derailed, forcing commuters to protest at Vasind station.

A CR official said that around four Badlapur -bound locals were stranded on Saturday, till the repair work was on, causing the disruption of services between .

AK Jain, senior public relations official, CR, said, “The engine of the Hyderabad-mumbai train had failed. So we brought an additional engine from Badlapur to pull the affected train off the tracks. Within an hour, the services were restored and the stranded locals resumed services.”

Commuters said CR must look into the frequent disruption of services. “Every other day, there is some technical glitch, affecting the locals,” said Bhairavi Vyas, 30, an Ambernath commuter.
