TAMIM OUT OF ASIA CUP AFTER BRAVE SHOW

DUBAI: Bangladesh batsman Tamim Iqbal, who put up a brave front by returning to bat with a fractured left wrist as the last man in Saturday’s clash against Sri Lanka and helping stitch 32 runs with Mushfiqur Rahim, has been ruled out of the remainder of the Asia Cup. The Bangladesh opener was hit by a Suranga Lakmal delivery in the second over after he missed a pull shot. The lefthanded batsman will be out of action for at least six weeks. Tamim, who is also the highest run-getter for Bangladesh, has been in form. He played a key role in the recent win over West Indies in ODIS, scoring two centuries.

Rishabh Pant in Delhi squad for Vijay Hazare

DUBAI: Rising sensation Rishabh Pant, who scored his maiden Test hundred in England, will play the first three matches for Delhi in the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy, starting September 19. However, veteran Ishant Sharma has been rested after a gruelling England series where he sustained an ankle injury on the fourth day of the fifth Test. New groundsman for Lord’s ahead of World Cup

LONDON: The Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) has appointed Karl Mcdermott as the new head groundsman of Lord’s ahead of the World Cup. Mcdermott is currently serving as a head groundsman in Hampshire.
