VERSOVA BEACH TO GET CLEANING MACHINE BY NOV

MUMBAI: Versova beach is set to get a new beach-cleaning machine by November. Brihanmumb­ai Municipal Corporatio­n (BMC) will import the equipment for ₹23 crore on a contractua­l basis for six years. The machine moves along the beach and is built with a dual action mode for digging and sifting. It has a mesh that filters out the waste into containers that can later be emptied.

Explosion triggered at office of Dombivli company

DOMBIVLI: An explosion at a company in Dombivli MIDC totally damaged its office on Monday. The company produces raw materials for medicines. No one was injured in the incident. It is suspected the blast took place due to pressure inside the pipeline connecting a reactor.

3 forge docs to dupe firm of ₹7.06 crore, arrested

MUMBAI: Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Mumbai police arrested three men from Andhra Pradesh for allegedly submitting forged KYC documents of 287 people to a finance company and acquiring loans worth ₹7.06 crore. The complainan­t had hired Star Auto Finance Agencies for marketing and to get customers. Tirumali Shameer, 40, the proprietor of Star Auto Finance Agencies along with MD Shakeer, 34, and Thogata Nagaraju, 38 were identified as the accused.

24yrold held for drugging raping woman in Thane

THANE: A 24-year-old man from Punjab was arrested for allegedly raping a woman he befriended on Facebook. In June, Mangatpal Singh met the 22-year-old woman in Thane and asked her to accompany him to a hotel on the pretext of helping her get a job. He offered her a drink laced with sedatives and then allegedly raped her. The woman also alleged that Singh even filmed the act.

25yrold attacks woman guard at Nair Hospital, held

MUMBAI: Mohammed Muzamil Dhanas, a 25-year-old man from Mumbra was arrested by the Agripada police on Sunday for abusing two women security guards at Nair Hospital. Dhanas pushed one guard into a glass door, breaking it, because she told him to wait for an hour because the maternity ward was being cleaned.
