ONEPLUS SAYS DEVELOPING ITS OWN SMART TV

SHENZHEN (CHINA): Chinese smartphone maker Oneplus announced on Monday that the firm is developing a Smart TV called “Oneplus TV” under its founder and CEO Pete Lau. The developmen­t of “Oneplus TV” comes as a “natural extension” for the firm with the aim to address the gaps in the TV segment and balance high-quality minimalist­ic hardware with the latest technology, the company said in a statement. “With this new division, we’re excited to explore the total connected user experience that can enhance everyday life,” said Lau. “Oneplus TV” is expected to be released in 2019. “With the developmen­t of Artificial Intelligen­ce (AI) technology, our imaginatio­n is endless— and we are looking forward to the future,” Lau added.

GCPL board approves bonus share allotment

NEW DELHI: FMCG major Godrej Consumer said Monday that a board committee has approved allotment of one bonus equity share for every two equity shares held by company shareholde­rs. The Godrej Group firm will allot 34.07 crore fully paid-up bonus equity shares to existing shareholde­rs, according to a BSE filing. “The management committee of the board of directors, at its meeting held on September 17, 2018, has approved allotment of 34.07 crore fully paid-up bonus equity shares to the existing shareholde­rs in the ratio of one bonus equity share of face value Re 1 each credited as fully paid up for every two equity shares of face value ₹1,” GCPL informed BSE. Godrej Consumer Pvt Ltd (GCPL) has already gets shareholde­rs approval on September 5, 2018, through postal ballot.

Infosys doubles investment in Tidalscale to ₹3 million

NEW DELHI: IT company Infosys Monday said it has doubled its investment in Us-based software firm Tidalscale by putting in an additional $1.5 million (around ₹11 crore) through the Infosys Innovation Fund. “Infosys...has made an additional investment of ₹1.5 million through the Infosys Innovation Fund in Tidalscale Inc., the company at the heart of the software-defined server revolution,” the Indian software major said in a statement. The Bengaluru-headquarte­rd company had previously invested ₹1.5 million in Tidalscale Inc in 2016. Tidalscale has developed software-defined servers that deliver in-memory performanc­e at any scale, are self-optimising anduse standard hardware.

JLR cuts production schedule at UK plant

LONDON: Tata Motors-owned Jaguar Land Rover on Monday confirmed a cut in its production schedule at the Castle Bromwich plant manufactur­ing Jaguar cars in the West Midlands region of England due to “continuing headwinds” impacting the British car industry. The change in schedule, described as “standard business practice” by the Tata Group firm, will see nearly 1,000 workers at the plant shifting from a five-day work schedule to a three-day one until Christmas.
