INDRANI ADMITTED TO JJ HOSPITAL FOR SECOND TIME

MUMBAI: Indrani Mukerjea, prime suspect in Sheena Bora murder case, was admitted to JJ Hospital on Friday for neurovascu­lar issues, headache, and low blood pressure. She was admitted at 11.45am. Doctors said her condition was stable and she could be discharged by Saturday morning. Mukerjea was also admitted to the same hospital earlier this week days after she complained of headache and double vision.

29yearold kills second wife, surrenders on his mother’s advice

VASAI: A 29-year-old Andheri resident strangled his 22-year-old wife in Vasai on Thursday, after which he surrendere­d to the D N Nagar police station on his mother’s advice. He was arrested and the case has now been transferre­d to the Waliv police station in Vasai. Suhel Ilyas Shaikh stays with his first wife and his mother in Punjabi Chawl, Juhu Lane, Andheri. Body found hanging from tree near Thane lake

THANE: The Vartnaknag­ar police on Friday recovered the body of a man which was hanging from a tree near Upvan lake. Police suspect it to be a case of suicide. The body was sent to the local civic hospital for post-mortem. A probe has been initiated and police are trying to ascertain the man’s identity.

Borivli becomes city’s first Braillefri­endly station

MUMBAI: Borivli station became the first Braille-friendly station in Mumbai on Friday. As part of the project railings on foot overbridge­s, entry and exit points and subways were provided with Braille embossed plates. It is expected to make suburban commute smoother for visually impaired passengers. WR executed the project in partnershi­p with Cox and Kings Foundation, Anuprayaas — an NGO working to making travel accessible.

20yrold held for duping senior citizens at Kurla

MUMBAI: The Kurla police arrested a 20-year-old and solved five cases of cheating. The police also recovered gold ornaments weighing 150 grams from the accused. Mohammed Amir Irfan would target senior citizens, mostly women, outside Kurla railway station. He would lure them with freebies such as sarees and rob them at a dilapidate­d building near the station.

3 bookies arrested for accepting bets on cricket

MUMBAI: The Mumbai crime branch arrested three bookies for accepting bets on matches in the Aisa Cup. Nehal Dinesh Mehta alias Santacruz, 30, Amul Daulatrai Desai, 53, and Mohit Satyapraka­sh Bahal, 52, were arrested from 5th road at Santacruz. The police action was taken following a tip-off. Three of their accomplice­s are on the run and the police have launched a manhunt.

Senior citizen from south Mumbai duped of ₹11 lakh

MUMBAI : A 65-year-old resident of south Mumbai, who is a former employee of a reputable hospital in the city, received numerous calls from five unknown numbers informing him that his insurance policy worth ₹98.5 lakh had matured. The fraudsters convinced the victim to deposit one-time premium of ₹11 lakh to claim the maturity amount. To raise the money, the used his provident fund, sold his land at his home town and also took a loan from his sister.

Peddler held, mephedrone worth ₹20 lakh confiscate­d

MUMBAI: The Bandra unit of anti-narcotic cell (ANC) arrested a 32-year-old drug peddler and seized 1-kilogram of Mephedrone aka MD, worth ₹20 lakh. Investigat­ion revealed Sabir Hanif Khan, 32, a resident of Jogeshwari (East), is the biggest distributo­r of MD in the city.
