BUMBLE SET FOR INDIA LAUNCH LATER THIS YEAR

NEW DELHI: Dating and social media app Bumble is said to officially launch in India later this year. The official Bumble applicatio­n is already available for Android and IOS users in India. The company has roped in actress Priyanka Chopra for the India launch. Priyanka Chopra, who is also investing in Bumble, had worked with the company for the launch of Bumble Bizz, the company’s social network for profession­als. “It’s rare to see a brand with this level of reach and relevance maintain a commitment to their values and mission in a manner that has global impact,” Priyanka Chopra said in a statement to Techcrunch. “I’ve always believed that investing in women is key to social transforma­tion and economic growth, and in working with Whitney and her team over the past year, I’m inspired by the real, positive change Bumble is creating and I’m proud to have the opportunit­y to contribute to this movement as a partner,” she added.

Toyota, Softbank team up for selfdrivin­g car services

TOKYO: Toyota Motor Corp and Softbank Group Corp. said they will team up to develop car services that rely on self-driving technology, such as hospital shuttles, as they envision a future in which fewer people drive their own vehicles. The partnershi­p between Japan’s top automaker and its most influentia­l tech giant shows that even big well-funded players fear being left behind in the race to develop autonomous and connected cars. “Softbank alone and automakers alone can’t do everything,” said Junichi Miyakawa, chief technology officer at Softbank Corp. who will be CEO of the new company. “We want to work to help people with limited access to transporta­tion.”

Proposal to waive flight cancellati­on fees on hold

The move comes as a big relief for airlines unable to significan­tly raise fares in a price-sensitive market. The draft passenger charter had proposed full refunds for cancellati­on or modificati­on of tickets within 24 hours of booking, as well as for flight delayed beyond four hours, hotel accommodat­ion if delay is more than 24 hours and compensati­on of ₹5,000-20,000 for missing connecting flights due to flight delays.

BSE, NSE to halt trading in Moser Baer from Oct 11

NEW DELHI: Leading stock exchanges BSE and NSE have decided to suspend trading in the equity shares of Moser Baer India, a manufactur­er of CDS and DVDS, from October 11 following the commenceme­nt of liquidatio­n proceeding­s. The move comes after Delhi Bench of National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) through an order on September 20 had initiated liquidatio­n process against Moser Bear. It had also appointed Resolution Profession­al Anil Kohli as the liquidator. “To avoid market complicati­ons, trading in the equity shares of Moser Bear India will be suspended with effect from Thursday, October 11, 2018,” the BSE said in a circular. In a separate circular, the NSE also announced the similar move.
