MUMBAI: Almost all teachers who attended the first online training session organised by the state education department gave positive feedback about it, revealed data shared by the state education department.

The education department had organised training sessions for over 5 lakh teachers in the state between September 24 and 29. Those teaching classes 1-8 in state board-affiliated schools had to attend the compulsory training.

For the first time, the training was imparted via a direct-tohome method. Vande Gujarat, a channel owned by the Gujarat government, was chosen to broadcast the training, causing anger among the state’s teaching fraternity.

Senior officials from the state education department said that the controversy seemed to have no effect on how teachers saw the training programme.

“We got a total of 3,08,433 feedback forms of which 99% responses were positive. Teachers said that they liked the digital format as it was convenient for them to access. We plan to take all our training sessions to the digital platform gradually,” said a senior official from the state education department.

The official said that those who sent negative feedback only complained about technical issues like delayed connectivity, lagged transmission, among others. “These issues were area-specific and did not affect most schools,” added the official.

Teachers had to submit a feedback form after the training sessions as part of the review process. Some teachers mentioned that they had to travel to other schools to attend the sessions due to poor or no connectivity in their school.
