GURUGRAM: A Volkswagen Polo, owned by a Delhi-based software engineer, was allegedly snatched at gunpoint from Rajokri Flyover, on Gurugramdelhi border.

The incident took place when the 27-year-old was returning home from office with a colleague on Thursday night.

According to police, three men took the victim at gunpoint after taking a lift. They forced the victim, Prateek Bobal, out of the car before driving off.

Bobal, a resident of Shalimar Bag, said it was 9.15pm when four men asked for a lift.

When he stopped the car, they climbed in the back seat and said they wanted to go to Punjabi Bagh.

“I told them I can drop them at Wazirpur as I was going towards Shalimar Bagh,” Bobal said, adding that when they reached the flyover, one of the men sitting on the rear seat took him at gunpoint, asked him to stop the car and get down without any noise.

“They told me and my colleague to pick up whatever we wanted from the car and leave. My friend and I took our laptop bags. It was then that one of the passengers in the rear seat sneaked out and ran towards Delhi. I realised he wasn’t a part of the gang,” Bobal said. A complaint was lodged on Friday under relevant sections of the IPC and Arms Act.

“CCTV footage from various sources has been obtained and matter is being investigated,” DCP (crime) Sumit Kuhar said.
