Shatter the glass ceiling

Women’s education has become a great concern in India.

Currently in India, the literacy rate is 65.46%, compared to 15% in 1961. Even after many steps taken by the government, only 20% of the senior posts in India are held by women.

In government institutio­ns such as ISRO, DAE, DRDO, among others, women have not been able to lead as yet, even though there are many skilled women scientists.

In order to achieve the goal, the ministry of women and child developmen­t should be split, to increase its efficiency for women welfare by eradicatin­g gender discrimina­tion through independen­t women cells that are not be controlled by the organisati­on. This will

The winners will be felicitate­d at a special award function. improve the situation and increase the number of women leaders. Their capabiliti­es should be judged solely by their talent, knowledge and not by gender. These norms should be made strictly applicable to private sectors also.

Private sectors should support and motivate their women employees to dream big and help them identify their talents.

The Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao scheme of the government should be improved further and the private sectors too should put their best efforts to support and promote this. If both the sectors combine their efforts, then Indian men and women will surely get equal opportunit­ies to hold leading positions.
