MUMBAI: A railway track-maintenance worker with the Western Railway (WR) on Friday tweeted about sexual harassment at her workplace.

Senior WR officials said the case was already being heard by an internal committee formed according to the Vishakha Guidelines — a set of procedural guidelines for use in India in cases of sexual harassment, as laid down by the Supreme Court.

The woman, posted at Nandurdar railway station, has tweeted a video about the ordeal she and her family went through.

“I had to undergo severe mental trauma and have been under constant stress. I was posted in the control office in the beginning and then posted as trackwoman for no fault of mine. As the place of work was lonely, I was accompanied by my parents to work. I was then again posted at the control office where I was harassed very badly. The officers would touch me and speak to me indecently (sic),” she narrated in a video posted from a twitter handle.

The account has further tagged Union railway minister Piyush Goyal in a picture of a written complaint signed by her.

The account has also tweeted to Chandrakant Patil, the state’s Public Works Department (PWD) minister.

Western Railway officials said her complaint was already being investigated.

“The case is under investigation and is being studied by the Vishaka committee. A report will be submitted next week,” said AK Gupta, general manager, western railway
