- Priyanka Dhomse

THANE:A 25-year-old woman filed a complaint with the police against an unidentified co-passenger, who bit her in a Kalyan local around 7.30pm on Thursday.

According to police, the victim Priyanka Singh boarded the local from Nahur and was about to get off at Kalwa, when the dispute took place. R Shirtode, senior police inspector, Thane GRP, said, “According to Singh, the argument took place when the local reached Thane, which usually observes huge rush during peak hours. Singh, who was to get off at the next station, Kalwa, stood near the door, like other passengers, to avoid rush while getting off.”

Shirtode said when passengers block the door it leaves very little space for other passengers to board the train.

“The accused co-passenger was struggling to enter, which led to a verbal argument and then turned into a physical fight and she bit Singh on her right thumb,” Shirtode said.

The police have assured Singh that they will check the CCTV footage and trace the co-passenger. “We have filed a case against Singh’s co-passenger and have asked her to visit the station to identify her through CCTV footage. Once she is identified, we will take her into custody for further interrogation” said Shirtode.
