NEW DELHI : Two Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) constables have been conferred with the Kirti

Chakra posthumous­ly for thwarting a suicide attack at the Indian Embassy in Kabul, Afghanista­n, in 2008, a Home ministry official said. Constable Ajay Singh Pathania, who hailed from Pathankot in Punjab, and Constable Roop Singh of Mandi in Himachal Pradesh laid down their lives while preventing an explosivel­aden vehicle from entering the Indian Embassy in Kabul on July 7, 2008, the official said.

CRPF officer held for killing wife’s Facebook friend

ROHTAK: A deputy commandant of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) was arrested on Thursday by Rohtak Police for allegedly murdering a man whom he had caught with his wife at their house here on September 30. The accused, identified as Suresh Kumar, was posted at Jammu, the police said. The police said Kumar had told his wife that he will return home on October 1. “Kumar’s wife had invited her Facebook friend-turned-lover from Panipat at her house. Kumar returned home on September 30 to surprise his wife and caught duo in a compromisi­ng position,” said police. Kumar called his brother-inlaw and killed the man.

HC dismisses pleas against Telangana House dissolutio­n

HYDERABAD : The Hyderabad high court on Friday dismissed pleas challengin­g the dissolutio­n of Telangana Assembly nine months ahead of the completion of its term. The petitioner­s had sought the court to declare as unconstitu­tional the dissolutio­n of the assembly by the Governor on the state cabinet’s advice without ascertaini­ng the views of the members of the House. A division bench, comprising Chief Justice Thottathil B. Radhakrish­nan and Justice S. V. Bhatt, observed that there was no merit in the contention­s by the petitioner­s. The bench made it clear that it is not proper for the court to interfere with the democratic process as the Election Commission has already announced the election schedule.
