PETROL COSTS ₹88.08 A LITRE, DIESEL IS ₹79.24

MUMBAI: More than two- and-half months later, for the first time, the prices of petrol and diesel dipped by 21 paise and 11 paise respective­ly, on Thursday. Petrol now costs ₹88.08/litre from ₹88. 29/litre, while diesel is priced at ₹79.24/litre from the earlier ₹79. 35/litre. Since July 29, apart from the two days the Centre and the state had announced a maximum price cut of up to ₹5, fuel prices soared every day.

7 booked for cheating 18 companies of ₹10 crore

MUMBAI: The Cuffe Parade police booked seven directors of a Hyderabad-based chemical company for cheating 18 other chemical trading firms of ₹10.14 crore. The accused company took huge quantity of chemicals from the 18 firms on credit, under the pretext of selling the chemicals further, but pocketed the entire amount of the sale without paying the firms. The case is transferre­d to Economic Offences Wing.

58yrold held for issuing fake visas to UAE, China

NALLA SOPARA: The Nalla Sopara police arrested a 58-year-old man on Wednesday for allegedly selling fake visas to prospectiv­e job seekers for ₹10,000 each. Police found fake stamps and documents of the UAE and Chinese consulates from Usman Ghani Shaikh’s house in Shriprasth­a Complex, Nalla Sopara. The Vasai court remanded him in police custody till October 23.
