Five-star Tanush leads Waingankar XI to win

MUMBAI: A five-wicket haul by Tanush Kotian helped Hemant Waingankar XI register a whopping 188-run win over Dilip Vengsarkar XI in a second round match of the U-23 Shalini Bhalekar Trophy cricket tournament at the Sachin Tendulkar Gymkhana here on Thursday.

On the third day of the match, Kotian broke the back of Vengsarkar XI with his searing spell to fashion his side’s win. In another second round match of the tournament, Chandrasek­har Sant XI defeated Jahangir Pithawala XI on the basis of their first innings lead. Chandrasek­har Sant XI had aggregated a 375-run total in the first innings before restrictin­g Pithawala XI to a paltry 130 to take a 245-run lead that proved decisive in the end.

Kamal Chawla of Railways maintained his winning momentum to emerge champion in the Bombay Gymkhana Handicap Billiards Tournament. He defeated Mandpeshwa­r Civic Foundation’s Rohan Jambusaria with a 200-113 victory.
