RAHUL DRAVID INDUCTED IN ICC HALL OF FAME

THIRUVANAN­THAPURAM: Former India captain Rahul Dravid was on Thursday inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame at a brief function here ahead of the final ODI between India and the West Indies. Dravid became the fifth player from India to be named in the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame. Sunil Gavaskar presided over the formalitie­s. The ICC, on July 2, announced his induction into the Hall of Fame. Dravid joins an elite list that includes Bishan Singh Bedi, Kapil Dev, Gavaskar and Anil Kumble.

BCCI panel starts probe into Rahul Johri case

NEW DELHI: The independen­t inquiry committee, set up by the Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administra­tors to probe allegation­s of sexual harassment against BCCI CEO Rahul Johri, met in Mumbai on Thursday. The BCCI submitted relevant documents in its possession to the committee. The panel will scrutinise the material for the next two days. The committee will meet on November 10 and 11 to prepare its final report expected by November 15.

Azhar Ali announces retirement from ODIS

KARACHI: Pakistan batsman Azhar Ali on Thursday announced his retirement from limited overs cricket in order to concentrat­e on Test cricket. Azhar, 33, said he had taken the decision because he felt the time was right. A prolific player in the longest format, the 33-year-old played the last of his 53 ODIS against New Zealand in January this year. His orthodox batting style in ODIS at an average of 36.90 and strike-rate of 74.45 often drew criticism.

Abdul Qadir’s son eyes World T20 in Aus colours

SYDNEY : The son of Pakistan Test great Abdul Qadir has set his sights on playing for Australia, boosting his chances by taking three South African wickets. A leg-spinner like his father, Usman Qadir donned the Australian colours for the first time in the Prime Minister XI’S win over a near full-strength Proteas in a one-dayer on Wednesday. He is in the country on a temporary activity visa and plans to apply for a distinguis­hed talent visa so he can stay on and get citizenshi­p. “My goal is to play for Australia in 2020 in the T20 World Cup.”
