Six-star Arjun Tendulkar fashions Merchant XI’S win

MUMBAI: Arjun Tendulkar produced a searing spell of six for 70 to fashion Vijay Merchant XI’S six-wicket victory over Vijay Manjrekar XI in the under-19 KC Mahindra Shield Selection Tournament at Cross Maidan here on Thursday.

Tendulkar was ably supported by Vignesh Solanki who took three wickets as Vijay Manjrekar were bowled out for 216 in their second innings. Merchant XI chased down the target of 120 with ease losing only six wickets. Aarya Satpute, waged a lone battle, remaining unbeaten on 92 after coming in to bat at No 3 for Manjrekar XI.

In another match of the tournament, Dattu Phadkar XI beat Khandu Rangnekar XI by six wickets. Atharva Poojari and Shreyansh Bogar were the stars for Phadkar XI scalping five and three wickets as Rangnekar XI were shot out for a paltry 86 in their second innings. Phadkar XI chased down the target of 181 with six wickets to spare.

DIYAAN SCORES OVER SECOND SEED DWIJ

Siddharth Shah and Diyaan Shah will clash in the final of the Cadet Boys’ singles event of the Malabar Hill Club 5-Star Mumbai City District TT Championship.

In semi-final matches, topseeded Siddharth looked in complete control and strolled past undseeded Vedant Agarwal 11-4, 11-8, 11-9. In the other match, third seed Diyaan Shah upset second seed Dwij Shah, 11-6, 11-1, 11-9.

GANGWANI, BIJLANI ADVANCE INTO FINAL

Divesh Gangwani of Juhu Vile Parle Gymkhana (JVPG) and Sanjiv Bijlani of Park Club both produced steady performances to set a clash in the final of the BSAM Grassroot Snooker Challenge 2018.
